Back In Time: Vanderbilt Mansion and Museum

Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium in Center Port, Long Island is a magnificent mansion, where once a wealthy family of the Gold Coast resided, and now a space museum.

When you walk the grounds it is still 1800s…

The mansion has many paths to travel from one end to another and resembles a labirynth… with an ocean view.

I regretted not bringing a picnic basket…

There is a Marine Museum, where various sea creatures are preserved. Vanderbilt was fond of marine life, and it appears liked to pickle it too.

At the museum shop I picked up some cool rocks.

  1. A flying mermaid! 😍 I always just melt into the scenes you depict, Natasha. This article was especially interesting because of the scenery. Can you imagine what it must have been like to wake up each morning in the mansion and begin your day with such views? Well, I certainly let my imagination entertain such a life.
